SEMPER  FIDELIS

Thank you for visiting our website.

The Federation of  Republic of  Korea Marine Corps Veterans Association  of United States of America (ROKMC OF USA) the official head organization of Korean Marine veterans in the United States was established on September 27th, 1997 in Atlanta. Since then, we have developed the organization as a proud representative of the R.O.K. Marines.

The ROKMC OF USA is a member of The Republic of Korea Marine Corps Veterans Association which was established on April 1988 in Seoul, Korea. Our goal is to create a leadership and a friendship to local and social Korean marine organizations in the United States.

Currently, in the United States, we are the umbrella organization for many sub-divisions (UNITS): 30 local organizations, 1 social organization, and 2 committees. We hold various types of events every year such as the commemoration of the ROKMC's foundation and the Inchon Landing celebration. We have a general meeting on an annual basis.  Each sub-division organizes several special events and provides social services.

We would like to thank  the U.S. Marines Corps and Veterans Association who have always supported the development of  our native R.O.K. Marines thus far, and we sincerely hope to maintain our friendship and brotherly love. We promise to make changes in areas that need  improvement such as the  interaction with local U.S. Marine Corps.

We also welcome other Marine organizations from other countries; to share our passion and devotion for the Marines so that we can continuously contribute to the development and improvement of our native Marines.

In the new edition of our website, our goal is to promote others to visit  Korea through the provision of connections.  We are also aiming to look back on the memories of the Korean War. The website is still in need of improvement, and we will keep providing updates. Please let us know your opinions.  We will take your thoughts into consideration when making changes.

Once again, we thank you for visiting our website. We hope that this site provided you a more specific understanding of the Korean and American Marine relationship.

ONCE  A  MARINE,  ALWAYS  A  MARINE.

The ROK Marine Corps

The ROK Marine Corps is a special force taking charge of landing operations, which is accomplished by the navy with landing parties aboard landing crafts, fleets and aircraft. They attack the enemy's seashore from the sea or ground landing sites. The ROK Marines has the ability to accomplish missions which include ground battles, special fighting scenarios, facility protection and security services. Whenever there's a call for duty, they are as responsive as 911 rescue.

The ROK Marine Corps was established April 15, 1949 with an initial strength of 380 men. They won battles in both the Korean and Vietnam wars with invincibility as they were never defeated on the battlefield. As a result, they gained a fighting reputation with nicknames like; "Ghost Buster", "The Invincible ROK Marines" and "The Legendary ROK Marines".

Fighting Reputation of the ROK Marines

Ghost Buster

On August 17, 1950, Korean forces executed amphibious operations without any help from the UN for the first time. In only three days, one ROK Marine battalion wiped out an entire North Korean battalion, including their commander. After the battle, a New York Times reporter, Mr. Chickins, wrote a headline describing the ROK Marines' performance titled "They Might Even Capture the Devil".

The Invincible ROK Marines

After the ROK Marines fought a bloody day and night battle at Tosol mountain from June 4 to June 20, 1951, they occupied 24 impregnable fortresses. A Marine engraved "The Invincible ROK Marines", "Hurrah, ROK Marines" on a burned tree stump. The press reported them as "Our Invincible Marines", which later became one of the nick names of the ROK Marines.

The Legendary ROK Marines

On the evening of February 15, 1967, the 11th Marine Company, 3rd Battalion, Chungyong (Blue Dragon) Division was attacked by a well known powerful regiment of allied Vietnamese troops. The ROK Marines shot 300 Vietnamese to death and killed many more as the battle broke down into hand-to-hand fighting. Afterwards, the unit received awards from both the Korean and USA presidents. All the Marines received the Order of Military Merit Award and was promoted one grade in rank. The press reported them as "The Legendary ROK Marines".
